Amazing Spider-Man # 53– This is the issue we’ve been waiting for for- Spidey face-to-face with Kindred! I enjoyed the homage to the whole homage to the ending to “One More Day” which lead into the transition to “Brand New Day” so I felt like most of the issue was just lagging in terms of storytelling and a perfect wast of such awesome Mark Bagley art, but then things did pick up towards the end so that was a plus, and while most of the pacing in this issue didn’t wow me, I’m still looking forward to how this arc continues to get fleshed out while reaching a satisfying conclusion.
Batman # 103– From Batman duking it out with The Ghostmaker to Harley Quinn getting some screen time, although it was a sequence with her going at it with The Clownhunter, this issue was very enjoyable from beginning to end; And with such amazing storytelling you’ll be completely hooked, showing everyone that this is a perfect time to be a Batman fan.
Spider-Woman # 6– This may well be one of the best Spider-Woman/Captain Marvel team-ups ever! Personally liked the chemistry between Jessica and Carol and the action in this issue is just flawless, and I also enjoyed all the intergalactic aspects that were in this issue, making it fun before the “King in Black” event kicks off so I applaud both Karla Pacheco and Pere Perez for crafting such a fun issue.
Symbiote Spider-Man: King In Black # 1– Peter David and Greg Land being us another installment in their “Symbiote Spider-Man” series, this time linking it to the upcoming “King In Black” event; Like the concept of Alistair Smythe (The son of Spencer Smythe, the creator of The Spider-Slayer) being a host for a symbiotic which was fun to read and I really got a kick out of seeing the appearance of The Black Knight, which I wouldn’t mind seeing him make future appearances in this series, but this series will be a hit among many Spider-Man & Venom fans.
Teen Titans # 46– Although I wish this series would have continued, I’m still in shocked that this is the last issue and I do feel like this series should have brought us more stories, especially with a writer like Robbie Thompson at the helm, as his writing is very sharp and really nails the voices of each character, No Spoilers, but some great plot threats get resolved and the ending will probably leave you with joy or sadness but I hope this is not a permanent goodbye for The Teen Titans because I feel like they’re such a huge staple for DC that they deserve better, a lot better!
Widowmakers: Red Guardian & Yelena Belova # 1– This was a very fun read that caught me by surprise because at first, I didn’t think much of this when it was announced, but when I found it in my pull box, and read it, it was really good! Seeing how both characters are getting major shine in the upcoming “Black Widow” movie this is an amazing read, And I really like how the focus centered on Yelena which I felt really made the story more intriguing and brought in the spy aspects in all its full glory. But after reading this, I would DEFINITELY love to see Yelena and Red Guardian in their own title, especially with the creative team of Devin Grayson and Michele Bandini bringing so much excitement from this special so that’s something I would love to see in the near future, even when Black Widow gets released via theaters or VOD.
Well, that’s it for me this week. Thanks for sticking around and I will be back next time.
