A few weeks back, I talked about Global Comix, which is one of the best digital platforms for indie creators and carries comics from more prominent publishers. Truthfully, it was everything everyone had hoped ComiXology would be one day. When I first wrote about it, I was new to the service, and it has so many comics on its platform that it can be hard to find some fantastic comics. Since then, there have been some significant changes that make it even better.
They already have Image, Boom Studios, and Dark Horse, and during March, IDW will roll out a lot from their library. First up was a ton of Star Trek from older classics—like the trade for The Universe Universe Saga, which collects a story from back when DC Comics was putting out Trek comics!
Other fan favorites like Rocketeer, Godzilla, and Wynonna Earp are also included. Next up, fans get Sinic the Hedgehog. Later in the month comes both My Little Pony and Teenage Mutant Turtles. Now, some older fans might not be all that into… say, My Little Pony, but it shows that there’s a ton of kid-friendly content available through Global Comix.
Global Comix has always supported Indy creators and their comics. For starters, I suggest creators check out their YouTube channel because it has videos on crowdfunding marketing. And tips on publishing your comics in a digital format. They also have a Discord channel for networking and talking about comics in general.
There’s a section that spotlights updates and creators. The app is fantastic! You can click on a creator and add their stuff to your Global Comix library. Also, when you add it to your library—there’s another “related” tab that will show similar comics. There’s also a section where you can find and discover publishers. Wait, there’s more—they have a weekly newsletter and other updates to help you find new comics. There’s a creator calendar that lets you know what’s coming soon to the service.
They have always featured crowdfunding campaigns, but sometime recently, at the top of the app, there’s now a dedicated crowdfunding tab. You can check out their comics, and the app even links you to their campaign page! Wow! I find their support of indie creators fantastic and more than one might expect.
At $8.00 a month, it has comics for pretty much everyone! For those of you who missed ComiXology before Amazon gutted it, Global Comix has pretty much everything a comic fan could wish for in a digital service. So far, this far into 2025, Glbal Comix has had some fantastic comics added, which made it better than it was in 2024. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the year brings!
