We’re thrilled to share the Fantagraphics Books Fall 2024 catalog, featuring a compelling lineup of captivating and engaging books!
Sunday marks another triumph for internationally acclaimed cartoonist Olivier Schrauwen. This masterfully crafted narrative captures a day in the life of Thibault, whose mundane yet surreal experiences offer a deep dive into the complexities of human consciousness. Schrauwen’s innovative use of color and form, combined with a blend of slapstick and tension, makes Sunday the most anticipated book of the season.
We are also proud to honor the life of pioneering cartoonist Barbara Shermund with Tell Me A Story Where The Bad Girl Wins: The Life and Art of Barbara Shermund. This beautifully curated art book and biography by Billy Ireland Library Associate Curator Caitlin McGurk celebrates the pioneering work of Barbara Shermund, one of America’s first female cartoonists. This volume not only showcases her groundbreaking contributions to iconic magazines like The New Yorker and Esquire, but also brings to light her vibrant and insightful portrayals of women’s lives in the early 20th century. McGurk’s meticulous research and presentation of Shermund’s work and life story will undoubtedly and deservedly place her in the canon of cartoon art history.
