FAN-FAVORITE DC SUPER HEROES, THE FLASH, SUPERGIRL, AND ARROW GET THE SERIAL BOX TREATMENT

NEW ORIGINAL STORIES TO BE AVAILABLE IN AUDIO AND READING FORMATS

NEW YORK, August 28, 2019 – Premium audio storytelling platform Serial Box is on board to create original stories, in audio and reading formats, inspired by The Flash, Supergirl and Arrow, three of Warner Bros. Television’s most popular series for The CW, based on iconic DC characters. The Flash will be the first of the three to launch, with its release scheduled for Fall 2019.

Serial Box will collaborate closely with Berlanti Productions to develop new storylines as part of the agreement with Warner Bros. Consumer Products. Husband and wife writing team and New York Times bestselling author Gwenda Bond and Christopher Rowe, a finalist for the Hugo, Nebula, World Fantasy and Theodore Sturgeon Awards, are charged with creating and writing the new storyline for The Flash. Serial Box’s President and Co-Founder Julian Yap and Head of Content Hayley Wagreich will produce.

In Serial Box’s 10-episode version of The Flash, Lex Luthor has altered the past so that The Flash, Arrow and Supergirl are now all bad to the bone, fighting for evil and for an altered timeline to become a permanent fixture in the multiverse. But even as the heroes go rogue, their friends and lovers still half-remember the fight to correct the timeline and restore the DC Super Heroes to the right side of justice.

With weekly episodes the length of an average commute, these new Serial Box Originals are designed to fit into today’s fast-paced mobile lifestyle. Users can switch between reading and listening with a simple click, picking up right where they left off in either format. Users are encouraged to sample the first episode for free before buying a full season pass.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to super-serve fans of these incredibly popular series with new stories,” said Serial Box co-founder and CEO Molly Barton. “We look forward to working closely with the Berlanti team to ensure that their creations make a seamless transition to our audio and reading formats.”

Serial Box takes the best of the traditional publishing industry and innovates, using the television writers room model—a showrunner to develop a pilot and bible and writing team for the installment—to release serials five times faster than a traditional book. In addition to creating completely original serials, Serial Box has moved aggressively into the brand extension arena.
