The Jonesey and Dr. Long Adventures Vol. 1 :
“Enough Dough to Buy More Bullets” and “Space Nazis on the Moon”
Collected in a complete retro-reversible trade paper Val-U Pak, Kickstarting on uhstudios.com/kickit
“Two pals drink, smoke, and fight their way through a hilarious tribute to mid-century newspaper adventure comics!”
The Jonesey and Dr. Long Adventures series appeared every other week to online audiences at GlobalComix. The serial adventure spoof places goofy, cute(ish) anthropomorphic animal characters in the roles of old-school comics heroes like Steve Canyon, Flash Gordon, Captain Easy, and The Spirit to spread chaos across 50-plus gin-soaked pages in this collected trade paperback edition. Every Nazi-chasing chapter is a cliffhanger, and the story is always a hundred miles an hour, always challenging the very paper it’s printed on to support the sheer density of gags per page.
John Pence (writer, creator) is creator of The Ballad of Brighid of Atlanta, The Surgeon, Up from the Skies, and co-author of Hot Brass | Pharaoh’s Gold (written with his then-ten-year-old son Will). He’s also editor of the Elsewhere anthologies for Unlikely Heroes Studios and attends cons that seem to meet somewhere in the fun/easy/lucrative Venn diagram.
Maxim Mel (art) is the ink-on-paper behind Max Bemis’ Do Well Camp and entries in the House of Blood and Fractured Scary Tales anthologies.
Taylor Esposito (letters) is an instructor at the legendary Kubert School and has lettered too many comics to list. This output and his consistently excellent work won him the Tripwire and Ringo for best letterer in 2022.
