At NancyFest this past Saturday, Olivia Jaimes broke the news that she’s taking some time off from the titular Nancy, but leaving the comic strip in incredibly capable hands with a rotation of guest cartoonists. And we’re happy to announce that cartoonist Caroline Cash, author of Girl in the Worldand the ongoing PeePee PooPoo series with Silver Sprocket, will be kicking off this run of Nancy guest artists on July 22nd for three weeks.
This guest artist lineup make up the newest additions to work on Nancy prior to the pseudonymous Jaimes taking over the comic strip in 2018 following Guy Gilchirst’s retirement. As the first woman to work on Nancy in its 86-year run to date, it’s not surprising that Jaimes has an incredible line-up of women cartoonists stepping in during her hiatus.

The start of Jaimes’ Nancy run was on multiple “Best Comic Strip” award lists in 2018.  (Nancy/GoComics)
Also included in the upcoming guest lineup for Nancy are cartoonist and color designer Leigh Luna (Clementine Fox, Steven Universe Future, Clone High), as well as fellow GoComics alums Shaenon K. Garrity (Narbonic, Skin Horse) and Megan McKay (Doodle for Food, Good Boye Guild). It has yet to be confirmed when Jaimes will be returning to Nancy but it feels safe to say that we’re in for some of the most interesting new takes on this gag-strip to date.
