ComicTropes Brings His Talents to Vampirella!

Limited Edition Variant Comic Available Now on Indiegogo!

February 20, Mt. Laurel, NJ: Dynamite announces an exciting collaboration with beloved YouTuber ComicTropes on an exclusive crowdfunded comic book variant cover. This cover is stuffed full of famous tropes that followers of his channel and comics history should recognize, and is his mainstream artistic debut! It’s available to pledge for right now on Indiegogo!

“I’m grateful to Nick [Barrucci] and his team at Dynamite for this fun opportunity,” said Chris Piers, aka ComicTropes. “I love drawing and have a lot of affection for many Dynamite characters so this was a no-brainer. I’m positive my viewers will enjoy this mashup of Vampirella and the things we always seem to see popping up on comic covers.”

ComicTropes – secret identity Chris Piers – has been making hit videos for his dedicated ever-growing audience as well as those who chance upon them from virality for several years now. His namesake comes from his fascination with documenting and examining “tropes” in the medium, commonly used and often quirky elements of storytelling and art. He also spotlights and reviews iconic titles, stories, creators, and more from throughout comics. He has become one of the go-to voices in the community for learning more about comics, as well as enjoying the community he has fostered.

In addition to his YouTube efforts, Chris is a talented artist in his own right. For this collaboration, he’s drawn up a cover featuring Vampirella, himself, and a crop of tropes. We’ve got guest stars! A shocking death – even homaging the one and only Crisis on Infinite Earths #7 by the dearly departed George Perez. Plus an ape, a classic from the Golden and Silver Age of comics that editors and publishers believed drove young fans crazy!

The piece is colored by Mark Englert, an artist specializing in pop culture prints, having worked with Disney, Universal, Paramount, Marvel and many more. He’s colored comics for Robert Kirkman, Kyle Higgins, and Jack Kirby’s Lord of Light pages for Heavy Metal.

On top of his YouTube, drawing, and more, Chris Piers has also worked as a proofreader for Robert Kirkman on The Walking Dead, Invincible, and more. He’s also taught a “Writing for Comics” class at The Writers Center in Bethesda, Maryland, and illustrated a story in the Eisner-nominated anthology Trickster.

This limited edition variant cover comic is available to order right now on Indiegogo, with expected delivery in June. There are several different options for fans to choose between to customize their haul. Signed options are available, black and white and “virgin” variants without trade dress, and more.

Fans can reserve their copy here on Indiegogo!
