Star Comics #1 by Chesler Publications, Inc. was published in February 1937. Predating the formation of MLJ Comics by two years. MLJ Comics began with Blue Ribbon Comics in November 1939.
What’s interesting about Star Comics is how many feature names later showed up in MLJ Comics. Including Dan Hastings, Wilbur, and Bob Phantom. While there were only 2 pages of Bob Phantom ever produced by Chesler Publications, it is such an unusual name, especially for a Superhero, it is an odd coincidence.
