Comic-Con International announced via their Twitter that CCI President John Rogers has passed away following complications from an aggressive form of brain cancer.
The following was posted on their account:
Rogers was first elected president in 1986, and had been elected every year since. Under his leadership the convention has grown into a pop culture phenomenom. San Diego Comic-Con now attracts over 100,000 attendees and some of Pop Culture’s heaviest hitters. On the same day of his passing, San Deigo Comic-Con had sold out of open registration tickets in just over an hour for the 2019 convention.
John Rogers is survived by his wife Janet Tait, sister Barbara, and his brother David. The family has asked to make donations to The American Brain Tumor Association or the American Civil Liberties Union in lieu of flowers.
The staff at First Comics News would like to send out our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of John Rogers.
