Comic Book Cats, number 197: Mark Trail

Comic Book Cats, number 197: Mark Trail written & drawn by Jules Rivera, published on January 28, 2024

Environmentalist Mark Trail examines the history of the domesticated cat in North America, and explains why, whenever possible, it is a good idea for you to keep your feline friends indoors.

Newspaper strip Mark Trail was created by cartoonist Ed Dodd and premiered on April 15, 1946. Featuring writer & wildlife photojournalist Mark Trail, the strip centers on environmental and ecological themes. Several writers and artists have worked on the series over its decades-long run.

Mark Trail is currently helmed by Jules Rivera, who began working on the series in October 2020. Rivera is the creator of the webcomic Love, Joolz, a contributor to the Eisner Award-winning Puerto Rico Strong (Lion Forge) and Ringo Award-winning Where We Live, A Benefit for the Survivors in Las Vegas (Image Comics). She is also the co-creator of sci-fi graphic novels Spectre Deep 6 and 200. Rivera brought a new design sensibility to the Mark Trail strip that many, myself included, find to be fun, interesting & invigorating.
