Comic Book Cats, number 17: Hero Cats #3, penciled by Marcus Williams, inked by Ryan Sellers, written by Kyle Puttkammer, lettered by Briana Higgins and colored by Omaka Schultz, published by Action Lab Entertainment in December 2014.
Hero Cats is a fun, adorable, exciting series about six cats who have joined forces to protect the human population of Stellar City. The newest member of the team is Cassiopeia, an orange tabby who is able to read. The third issue sees Cassiopeia in basic training, with team leader Ace playing the role of drill sergeant. Part of Cassiopia’s training is sparring with a boxing robot that belongs to Rocket, a cat who insists he’s from outer space.
If you like both cats and comic books then Hero Cats is highly recommended. Puttkammer is a writer who succeeds at crafting stories that are genuinely all-ages. His scripts are fun, as well as intelligently written so that they do not talk down to younger readers, with a level of sophistication that will appeal to adults. The artwork is both cute and dynamic. The cast of cats are all so wonderfully expressive.
