Comic Book Cats, number 108: Avengers West Coast #51, written & penciled by John Byrne, inked by Mike Machlan, lettered by Bill Oakley and colored by Bob Sharon, published by Marvel Comics in November 1989.I cannot say that I was a huge fan of John Byrne’s writing on Avengers West Coast. I was less than thrilled with what he did with the Scarlet Witch and the Vision, although perhaps if he’d been able to conclude his storyline it ultimately would have worked out. That said, Byrne’s artwork on AWC was certainly well done. For most of his run, he was inked by Mike Machlan, an underrated artist who had previously embellished Al Milgorm on this series. I enjoyed the collaboration between Byrne and Machlan.
On this page, we see the aforementioned Scarlet Witch and Vision, as well as the witch Agatha Harkness and her black cat familiar Ebony. Nice work on that last panel in particular.
