CBLDF signings and more at NYCC

The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund is at New York Comic-Con this week with signings, limited-edition prints, and the latest news in the fight against comics censorship.

Dates: Thursday, October 17 (today!) through Sunday, October 20

Location: Artist Alley booth HB902, to the left of the escalators as you enter.

At the booth, we’ll have new merch (including a new version of our often-requested Comics Code Authority seal t-shirt), a limited-edition print signed by Gender Queer author Maia Kobabe, special 9.8 CGC-graded variants of Epitaphs from the Abyss #1 and Biker Mice from Mars #1 from Oni Press, a preview of our new membership card, and a new legal guide – more info on all of this soon!

Here’s a brief rundown of the signings, which take place this afternoon and tomorrow:

  • Thursday from 2-3pm: creators Ian Rosenberg and Mike Cavallaro, signing a limited-run print edition of U.S. v. Comics, their history of the 1954 Senate hearings on juvenile delinquency and the rise of the Comics Code.
  • Friday from 3-4pm: Derek Kirk Kim, award-winning creator of The Last Mermaid, Same Difference and Other Stories, and, with CBLDF board member Gene Luen Yang, The Eternal Smile; and
  • Friday from 3:30-4:30pm: Alex Segura, award-winning comics creator and novelist whose works include The Legendary Lynx, Secret Identity, and the ongoing Dick Tracy series from Mad Cave.

In addition, on Friday from 5-6pm in the River Pavilion we’ll have our annual panel on the latest CBLDF news and how you can help stop comic bans.

We’ll also be providing updates on cbldf.organd Instagram, Facebook, and Tiktok @cbldf – if you have any particular questions or issues you’d like us to address, please let us know.

We look forward to seeing you soon @NYCC
