The Trial – and the Gang War
Blueboy Brown Comics #5 ended with the arrest of Blueboy for the murder of Leroy “Smith” and Clifford Wayne Earp. We know he didn’t do it, but can he convince a jury? Unfortunately for our hero, the victim, Leroy, is the son of the head of a crime syndicate that is also one of the best-connected men in the state of Arkansas, Rascal Jack Smith.
And he wants him dead.
And so the story goes. But don’t think this is going to be easy for Blueboy, even if he is difficult to kill.
Someone wants him dead too.
What ya don’t know might kill ya.
Afternoon Comics is the personal boutique publisher for David Greg Taylor, and old geezer from the 1970s come back to comics in his waning years. I always post the little thing written about me in The Comics Journal #109, to explain why I even showed up!
What if Dale was right, even a little bit? So I started Blueboy Brown Comics back in 2018. And now here we are.
Accolades for Afternoon Comics’ Series

- “Just before Christmas the latest edition in the Blueboy Brown saga landed on my doormat. I backed its Kickstarter as I have with all previous editions (indeed, I am now an official member of the Tree Punks Club!) I think I’ve said here before how impressed I am with David Greg Taylor in terms of both his superb drawing and compositional skills and his mastery of the art of graphic storytelling. I really cannot recommend his work enough. I wish my books were as good as his.” – Steve Bee, artist/cartoonist, Birkdale House Publishing. Creator of the Buffalo Bill Amos comics.
- “David Greg Taylor’s story consciousness has matured into real saga.” – Rick Berry, Spectrum award-winning illustrator.
- “Liquid Prisoner Comics #1 is a stunning achievement.” – Darrel Anderson, pioneering scifi illustrator and creator of 3D software GROBOTO.
It’s a Long Trek.
This series spans 45 comics that are really nine books, a trilogy of trilogies. Every five comics gets published as a nifty perfect bound graphic novel, but the progression of the story comes off in spurts of 32-68 page comics. You’ll see how apt it is to do this when you hold this and the other issues in your own hands.
