A haunting tale of undead vengeance comes riding out of the sunset in the Old West.
NEW YORK, May 27, 2024 – After joining Diamond Comics Distributors’ FOC (Final Order Cutoff) programme earlier this year, BLACKBOX COMICScontinue their rise with the debut of another new title, Deadly Trails, in August alongside the final issue of theirgiant robot, sci-fi epic, Bio Mechs!
Described as Jonah Hex meets Gunslinger Spawn with a touch of Clint Eastwood’s legendary Pale Rider, this new series – written by up-and-coming creator Carmen Guasco, and featuring art by Rodrigo Rocha with colors by Carlo López and letters by Leo McGovern – tells the story of a mysterious figure who comes riding into town on a cursed BISON. When a dark gloom overshadows the town of Bannack, even the cloudsseem to be an omen of death. Recently deceased, but no longer among the departed, Clay is back and out for vengeance.
“I’ve always loved these kind of classic Western sagas and tales of vengeance,” says BLACKBOX COMICSpublisher and co-creator, Dimitrios Zaharakis. “Clay pays homage to those morally ambiguous, yet ultimately noble, figures while embarking on his own bloody trail of revenge across the backdrop of the Old West. We hope readers will embrace this new anti-hero and find themselves drawn into the mystery behind who Clay is and what led to his untimely demise.”
Issue 1 arrives in stores this August with four stunningcovers from an array of comics talent, old and new. Cover A features a jaw-dropping wraparound image by series artist Rodrigo Rocha, Cover B is by the legendary Greg LaRocque (Avengers, Flash, Power Man and Iron Fist), Cover C by BlackBox Comics regular Tiago da Silva (Ninja Kaidan) and Cover D byfan-favorite artist Tyler Kirkham (Cyberforce, Green Lantern, X-Men ‘97).
In addition to launching this new series, BLACKBOX COMICS’ solicitations for August include the ending (for now) of Bio Mechs with issue #5, alongside re-offerings of issues #1-5 of their recent horror title, Dead Detective.
“As we enter our eighth year of publishing, I’m incredibly proud of all the books we’ve managed to release and continue to put out,” adds Zaharakis passionately.“Deadly Trails is a somewhat new genre for us, but still feels very much like a BLACKBOX COMICS title. If you enjoy high-quality work from indie creators and talent who are on the rise then I would encourage you to check out what we have to offer.”
