SUMMARY:
COMMENTS: This is a fun comic about some serious topics. It deals with mental health and violence with Sunday Color Funnys from your newspaper. It actually answers the question what if Beetle Bailey were a serial killer and Calvin & Hobbes were the detectives assigned to bring him in. This isn’t a joke or a metaphor, this is the actual story. Complete with a page that looks exactly like Mort Walker’s Beetle Bailey. The series also explores what happens to a cop with an imaginary friend. You get to see how the heroes deal with a lifetime of personal adversity. If you read the first mini-series you are going to love the return of Spencer & Locke. If you are new to the series, you are caught up pretty quickly. This is a weird idea, and there are a million reasons why this shouldn’t work. However, it all comes together extremely well and the cross-genre art and storytelling all fit together and really work. Highly Recommended.
