SUMMARY: New Kid in Town
When Versema chases an escaping villain to Hilltop City, she crashes into Beetle Girl. Confusion, punching, and chaos are on the agenda. Later, Mel tells a story about her first meeting with a super-powered villain.
COMMENTS: Jessie goes by the superhero name Versema, so naturally the comic is called Punchline. There aren’t any jokes and not a lot of slugfests so I don’t understand the title. This issue we have our first intercompany crossover. Lucky Comics Beele Girl shows up. Beele Girl is a female version of the original Blue Beele for anyone not in the know. The art in this issue is much better than the first two issues. We get to see an early adventure of Mel’s. Again Mel is a killer. We still don’t know what to expect from this comic, the storytelling is done for an inevitable TPB as they slowly unfold the first arc over many issues. This will make a wonderful trade at some point but at this point it’s a lot of character development and clues without letting the reader in to exactly what is going on.
