SUMMARY: The mystery of NIGHTVEIL’S missing cloak revealed! The re-emergence of the villainous ALIZARIN CRIMSON! Guest-stars galore! FEMFORCE creator BILL BLACK returns on script and art. with help from FF fan-favorite ERIC COILE on pencils! Backup co-features the SENTINELS of JUSTICE!!
COMMENTS: “Treachery, Thy Color is Crimson!” We see Captain Paragon again and Black Commando in a cameo. Alizarin Crimson gives the Cloak of Darkness to the Master. The story ties into a lot of the past stories all the way back to 1951. It is a fun start and leaves off with a cliffhanger that makes you want to see more. I didn’t know Captain Paragon existed in 1951 but it ties him in with the Master and the whole comic has a strong continuity and rich history that is missing from many of today’s comics from the Big Two.
“Guardian at the Gate” The Nightveil back up is part 4 of a Sentinels of Justice story set in the 1980s. This is a Bill Black solo effort and it’s a lot of fun to see the Sentinels back in action. I had not picked up the prior three issues, without a recap I didn’t know how the story started but it was still an enjoyable chapter. If you are a fan of Bronze Age comic storytelling or indie comics that say “comics like the used to be” this is a comic for you.
