SUMMARY: Barely functioning as a team yet, and the Agents are already outnumbered and outgunned by an army of souped-up Equilibrium agents headed by the Steeltown Hammer! Who can even the score? Spoilers: it’s Kebec.
COMMENTS: This issue brings Kebec back into the story. The focus is mostly on Marla Ritchie as she learns to control her Gold Girl abilities. Redcoat gives the full feel of a Captain Canuck story without Captain Canuck in it. Not sure how this whole no Captain Canuck experiment is going for Chapterhouse, but I miss Captain Canuck and can’t wait for his return. This is a good filler story while building space between the last Captain Canuck series and the next one. If you compare the Chapterverse to the Marvel Universe Captain Canuck is Captain America, Human-Lizard is Spider-Man and Agents of PACT are Agents of SHIELD. It’s not that you don’t have superheroes in the comic, you have Fleur de Lys, Redcoat and Gold Girl but the story is more about mission and procedure. The action in this story revolves around rescue and science and less fighting but there is some of that too. All and all very enjoyable but I still miss Tom.
