BELOVED STAR TREK ACTRESS TO BE HONORED AS KIDS’ COMIC CON RETURNS WITH SCIENCE FACT AND FICTION EVENT ON SEPT. 17!

NEW YORK (August 19, 2022) – On Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022, Kids Comic Con (KCC) the children’s arts outreach initiative celebrating its 16th year returns live in-person for the first time since 2019! The event takes place at the Bronx Community College from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free.

This year, KCC rockets into the stratosphere with a special “science fact and fiction” theme anchored by a tribute to Nichelle Nichols who boldly went on several fictional television and movie voyages aboard STAR TREK’s Starship Enterprise, and was a pioneering actress inspiring many real-life women, children, and people of color through her art and activism.

In addition to a special remembrance of Nichols including viewing and discussing the trailer for her documentary, A WOMAN IN MOTION; this year’s event, dubbed KCC SCI-FEST goes deep on engaging kids in the science and tech inspiring some of their favorite superheroes from comics, movies, TV, and more. Yes, It’s more than a comic con.  It’s where science fact meets science fiction! It’ what’s given us BLACK PANTHER, SUPERMAN, the FLASH, and STAR TREK! It’s how ray guns became phasers, super suits became exo-skeletons, and communicators became cell phones.

Throughout the day special presentations on the connections between real-life science and sci-fi fantasy will be given, along with drawing workshops, entertainment performances, the history of inventions, prize raffles, drone demos, virtual interviews with international artists, and even special interactive stations where kids can take part in science experiments!

As always, joining the roster will be noted comics creators, children’s entertainers, and renowned science and history experts making up a big part of the KCC fun.
