Beam Me Up Las Vegas: The 2018 Star Trek Event of the Year is Here

It’s that time of year again and Creation Entertainment is once again at it, bringing the Official 2018 Star Trek Convention to Sin City. For several years now, Trekkies from around the globe have warped to Las Vegas to meet their favorite cast members and see everything Trek-related.

Last year’s convention touted a whopping 130+ guests, and for next month they have already secured a massive 140! With six television shows, one animated series, and thirteen films, Creation has lots to choose from. Past conventions have drawn stars Nichelle Nichols (Uhura), George Takei (Sulu), Marina Sirtis (Counselor Troi), and fan favorite Armin Shimerman (Quark).

Of course, no convention would be complete without the Captains. Whether you prefer Kirk, Picard, Janeway or another Captain, it’s likely they have or will be at this or future conventions. You’ll know they are there, just look for the massive crowds of swooning attendees!

The 2018 lineup, while not even fully announced yet–Creation loves its mystery guests–touts some of the biggest names in the business. Guest include William Shatner, George Takei, Kate Mulgrew, Nichelle Nichols, Rainn Wilson, Jeri Ryan, Brent Spiner, Michael Dorn, Levar Burton, Jonathan Frakes, Tim Russ, Robert Beltran, Eugene Roddenberry, and John de Lancie.

Speaking of Q (de Lancie), I was previously treated to a panel where he discussed different parts of his career and how much he loved acting and had moved into voice acting. He chatted on for several minutes, then mentioned that he is the voice actor for the animated My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic series. At the moment he said “My Little,” screams erupted from excited Trekkies and Bronies alike. I was taken aback and had no idea what was happening.

De Lancie voices the dragon Discord and has said the character was inspired by his Trek character Q. It speaks volumes that fans of both shows are so inclusive and welcoming of each other’s fans. De Lancie was quoted, “They were kind of like Star Trek fans. I’m glad I got involved in that.” Clearly, so are the fans.

The con also boasts the largest collection of Trek wares, props, and photo ops in one location. Tickets are still available online along with photo-ops and rooms. I know I am excited and likely, if you are reading this, you are too. I look forward to creating memories with all of you in August. Until then, Live long and prosper.

Event information, tickets, photo ops, and more are available at www.creationent.com.
