Alpha Dogs, Riot Force, and Nomads Come to Source Point Press

SAGINAW, MI – Three new graphic novel titles are coming to publishing house Source Point Press in the action, sci-fi, and fantasy genres, scheduled for 2025 releases through Simon and Schuster distribution. Alpha Dogs hits stores January 14th, with Riot Force and Nomads receiving tentative Spring store releases.

Alpha Dogs Vol. 1 is a harrowing adventure for dog lovers about a super powered pit bull who journeys across the country to stop an attack on America’s leaders while being hunted by those who wish to possess his super-powered abilities. It’s written by Jon Dexter (Dime Store Detective), with art by Fernando Melek, colors by Ezequiel Dominguez and Lucas Orueta, and lettering by Lucas Urrutia. “After pit bulls were outlawed in our town, I decided to create a comic that demonstrates that dogs, like people, should be judged by the strength of their character, and not by prejudice,” says writer Jon Dexter. “Alpha Dogs centers on Buck, a dog on the run from mercenaries determined to exploit his incredible powers. Although feared by the public due to Buck’s breed and size, it doesn’t deter him from aiding those in danger.” Source Point Press is already soliciting Alpha Dogs Vol. 1 to stores through Simon and Schuster and it’s currently available to pre-order on Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, and at your favorite book store. “I’m excited to join Source Point Press. They have been a leader in publishing original indie comic titles,” says Dexter.

Riot Force: Tools of the Rich is a 300+ page graphic novel from writer and artist Austin McKinley (Nightmare World, Tales of Mr. Rhee) that just ended a successful Kickstarter campaign. It tells the story of a wisecracking law enforcement team who have to fight an escaped eco-terrorist with a mysterious personal grudge against their leader while thwarting the plans of a corporate crime boss who’s out to replace them with his own cybernetic crime fighting creations and trying to stop a nuclear weapon from blowing up the whole city… all while not killing each other in the process! “Riot Force is my love letter to the best team-oriented comics of the 1980s,” says creator Austin McKinley. “It simultaneously glorifies and subverts the action/comedy tropes that made 1980s comics, cartoons, and movies so memorable and fun to re-watch to this day. It also explores deeper themes of loyalty, loss, and justice — all without sacrificing even an ounce of fun, resulting in an equally entertaining and thought-provoking reading experience about finding one’s place in the world.”

Nomads: Definitive Volume One is an acclaimed indie comic title previously published by its writer and artist Ryan Tavarez (A Game of Doubles, Weapon Echh!) that is getting an all new remastered deluxe edition release through Source Point Press. In a time where mankind has fallen, the world has returned to the primal. The story follows Hawk as he travels the desolate Badlands looking for his missing tribe. “Nomads is brutal,” says creator Ryan Tavarez. “It’s about a land where ‘eat or be eaten’ is law. But it’s also about the bonds we form through adversity. Don’t let the voracious monsters and non-stop action fool you, this story has a beating human heart that is sure to hook you along for the journey,” Tavarez continues. “I can’t wait for you to jump into this world gone primal and see just how wild things can get. This is your chance to get the definitive collection of Nomads with all new art, remastered color, and read it the way it was meant to be read.” Nomads: Definitive Volume One will debut on Kickstarter this fall and hit store shelves in spring of 2025. “Source Point Press and the books they publish have long been a ‘source’ of inspiration for me since I started making comics,” says Tavarez. “It’s a real full circle moment being able to work alongside them to bring my comics to new readers. I am excited to see what the synthesis of our efforts produce.”

“We’re so proud to be working with creators like Jon, Ryan, and Austin. And this is only a handful of the new titles coming down the pipeline that we’re thrilled about,” says Source Point Chief Creative Officer Joshua Werner. “There are so many incredible talents and driven creators in the industry right now, especially those making creator-owned IPs. It truly is a great time to be a lover of the comics medium.” Source Point Press is a Michigan-based publisher that aims to bring unique and exciting stories to readers around the world.
