After 40 years, Michael Myers has come home. Halloween is now out on digital, DVD, Blu-ray, and 4k. Serving as a true sequel to the legendary film, it disregards all sequels and remakes. Jamie Lee Curtis also returns in her role as Laurie Strode who has led her life waiting for Michael Myers to return for one final showdown.
Official Synopsis: “Forty years after the events of 1978’s Halloween, Laurie Strode now lives in a heavily guarded home on the edge of Haddonfield, where she’s spent decades preparing for Michael’s potential return. After being locked up in an institution, Myers manages to escape when a bus transfer goes terribly wrong, leading to chaos in the same town he preyed on decades earlier. Laurie now faces a terrifying showdown when the deranged killer returns for her and her family – but this time, she’s ready for him.”
Film review- The film itself is a welcome return to form after its many sequels and remake (along with a sequel for the remake). Jamie Lee Curtis’ return to her role as Laurie Strode was a delight to see. Her paranoid, but determined, take on an older Strode was what was needed instead of the damsel in distress. The kills are brutal, the suspense tense, and it pulls no punches. Also with John Carpenter acting as producer and co-composer, it really does feel like a true sequel.

Deleted/Extended Scenes:
Review- These scenes really did feel out of place when viewing the film as a whole. While it is fun to see extended and deleted scenes, it was easy to see why the were left out of the finished product.
Back in Haddonfield: Making Halloween:
Review- A fun behind the scenes look at the making of the film. It was great to also hear from the writers and their experiences in writing for a film that is a follow up to something that is seen as ground breaking and even legendary.
The Original Scream Queen:
Review- A well deserved spotlight on Jamie Lee Curtis. She helped define the “scream queen” moniker, and it also shows how she has helped bring the character into this era. The feature also shows how Curtis has matured the character.
The Sound of Fear:
Review- Getting to see John Carpenter work his musical magic in a modern setting was a treat to see. Also, being able to hear his prospective and see where the original iconic theme came from is just as awesome.
Journey of the Mask:
Review- This is a well done feature on one of the most recognizable faces of the horror genre. Seeing its origins and what it has become is a treat for Halloween fans. It can also help bridge the gap between generations of viewers to see why this face/mask is so iconic.
The Legacy of Halloween:
Review- A fun, but brief, roundtable discussion with David Gordon Green, Jason Blum, Jamie Lee Curtis, and John Carpenter. It was a great site to see the two generations of the Halloween franchise sitting together. Viewers can learn how the original film came to be, what it took to get the film made, and feelings to taking on this new venture.
