TINY ONION HIRES HARLEY SALBACKA AS COMMUNITY AND EVENTS MANAGER

Salbacka will join the Tiny Onion crew at SDCC this week

BROOKLYN, NY 07/22/24Tiny Onion, the independent multimedia production company from James Tynion IV, has hired Harley Salbacka as Community and Events Manager, and their ninth employee overall. Salbacka was most recently with BOOM! Studios, where she first collaborated with the Tiny Onion team. She joins the Communications team, headed by Director Jazzlyn Stone.

James Tynion IV, the New York Times bestselling author behind comic book industry sales giants Something is Killing the Children, The Department of Truth, The Nice House on the Lake, and W0RLDTR33, announced the formation of Tiny Onion in February of 2024. Since then, the team has grown from its original four employees – Tynion as CEO, Eric Harburn as Director of Editorial, Courtney Menard as Director of Production, and Jazzlyn Stone as Director of Communications – to include Antonio Guanaes as Executive Assistant, DeAna Avila as Production Manager, Steve Foxe as Editor, Greg Lockard as Talent Manager, and now Harley Salbacka as Community and Events Manager, growing the team to nine employees in just seven months. Tiny Onion cites its aggressive plans across the publishing, film, television, and animation industries as a catalyst for the rapid growth.

The production company oversees Tynion’s robust backlist and growing frontlist, as well as supporting independent publishers and creators in three distinct areas of expertise: editorial, production, and communications. Salbacka will be in meetings with the Tiny Onion crew at San Diego Comic-Con later this week.

Harley Salbacka is a renaissance woman. She has been working in multiple aspects of comics for over a decade, starting out on the retail side running one of the top shops in Los Angeles before crossing over to publishing. You also may have

seen or heard her voice on various comic book related shows and podcasts. An alum of the Disney College Program Entertainment Marketing Internship, she also studied dance at UCI, is a trained vocalist, and has a passion for great art and good stories.
