Now that “Madame Web” is out in theaters I will take a look at Amazing Spider-Man # 216, her second appearance.
The issue starts off with Spidey hearing about a possible assassination attempt during so he decides to follow the race for the full 26 miles! But there are over 15,000 runners participating! How will Spidey know who is the intended target? Enter Madame Web! With her help, the wall-crawler zeroes in on the sniper while the runners zero in on the finish line.
She was barely in this story, but Madame
Web manages to be an important part in this story that played up the intensity of the whole assassination plot that felt out of place seeing as it a Spider-Man story, but I have to give major props to Denny O’Neil for putting in the dramatic elements needed to make this story enjoyable while giving the readers a satisfying ending (**NO SPOILERS**); ASM’s creative team at the time surely had fun with Madame Web’s second appearance and many someday we might get a Madame Web series…..let’s hope, however, that it doesn’t tie into the movie.
Well, that’s it for me. I’ll be back next week so thanks for sticking around and I will see you all next time.
