CRITICALLY-ACCLAIMED COMIC BOOK SERIES DELEGATES RELEASES ISSUE 12 TO COMPLETE ARC 2

EXPLORES HOW THE FIGHT FOR POWER IMPACTS THE INNOCENT,
INCLUDING CHILDREN

May 13, 2020…Since its debut in 2018, Delegates has unflinchingly tackled social issues involving leadership, technology, trust, and truth. Through the diversity of its characters and the complexity of their personalities, the storyline has delivered a both thought-provoking and exciting read for fans of sci-fi, intrigue, and adventure. Completing its second arc with the just-released Issue 12, writers Bin Lee and Tina Cesa Ward are revealing even more about the troubled world they created.

After their victorious battle for physical survival, the story’s heroes must now fight to reclaim their nation of Fulawodaabe. Their alliance was uneasy at best, and their convictions continue to be tested. In their way is a new threat, Warlord Tau. Additionally, General Uba eagerly turns up the heat to flush out Aminah (the President of Fulawodaabe). Aminah’s algorithms are proving to be continually troubling to Marla, the story’s anchor character. And the question remains: will the heroes be undone by the violent pressures around them or by the internal strife within?

“In these next issues of Delegates, we dig deeper into Marla’s questioning of the Delegates program and all those involved in it, especially Aminah. We introduce key new characters, one of which will have a long term impact on the rest of the series and an even bigger impact on Marla. And we explore bigger themes, one of which is addressing the exploitation of children to obtain wealth and power. That was not always easy to think about as writers but it was too important to ignore,” says Ward.
On the new challenges faced by the core characters, Lee adds, “I wanted to see how our heroes react when their plucky rebellion doesn’t go their way. What happens when their road to redemption is rockier than they can handle?”

Delegates is written by Bin Lee and Tina Cesa Ward. Lee wrote and directed the award-winning film Office Ninja, co-wrote American Born Chinese (a Scriptapalooza quarter-finalist), and guest wrote and directed an episode of the webseries The Ladies and The Gents. Ward has won multiple awards for her short films and web series, including the first-ever Writers Guild Award for Original New Media for Anyone But Me and three International Academy of Web TV awards for her writing and directing work. She created and wrote the comic book Guards of Dagmar.
