9 Tips to Improve Your COD Cold War Gameplay

The Call of Duty series has always been extremely competitive. Seasoned veterans of the series have honed their combat skills over many generations of CoD games. From the original Modern Warfare all the way up to Black Ops Cold War.  So for newer players, it can be quite difficult to compete with these players. Thankfully you have me. I’ve been an FPS player all my gaming life and I have amassed a few tips and tricks over the years. So here are 9 ways you can improve your skill level in CoD: Cold War.

Complete The Campaign

If you are completely new to the series then the first thing you should do is play through the entire campaign. Not simply because it offers a great narrative experience. But because it will massively improve your overall skill level. It will help familiarize you with all the basic gameplay mechanics and weapons, as well as teaching you some important lessons about positioning and gun control.

Train In Zombies Mode

The zombie mode has been a staple of the Call of Duty series since it was added in CoD 5. Back then it was called Nazi zombies. It has since been rebranded and now includes zombies from all eras of history. Each new game in the series sees fresh innovations being added to the zombies game mode.

Even if you aren’t a huge fan of the zombie series, it is a great place to hone your skills. Zombies teach you how to handle a high-stakes situation without losing your cool. It’s also a great place for improving your aim. Try to focus on getting headshots of as many zombies as possible.

Learn All The Weapons

CoD is famous for its varied weapon selection and its huge array of customization options for each gun. But the thing that separates the pros from the casuals is their knowledge of all the weapons in the game. Not every weapon is going to be useful on every map or in every game mode. Knowing the strengths and weaknesses of each gun will help you get an edge over your competition.

Using Hacks

You might be surprised to see this included on the list. But using hacks and cheats is a valid method of improving your skill level in games. Provided you are only using them in private training sessions and not during genuine ranked matches.

The best way of using cheats for call of duty black ops cold war is to face off against AI opponents. Whatever skill you want to train, you should use hacks that will allow you to focus on that area. For instance, if you want to improve your positioning, then use an aimbot so you can focus on learning map layout without having to worry about your accuracy. Likewise, if you want to work on the accuracy you might want to use an invincibility cheat to ensure you can keep practicing without worrying about dying.

Forming A Team

One of the most effective methods of improving your skill level is to work with a team. There are lots of online communities on Discord and forums where you can find people looking for new teammates. The biggest upside to this is that you can learn new and effective strategies from your teammates. Plus you will be able to participate in group training sessions. Group training is often far more effective than solo training.

Watching CoD Streamers

Twitch is a great place to kick back and relax while watching a streamer play your favorite games. But it is also a fantastic place to learn some new tips and tricks. A lot of the top CoD streamers are also highly-ranked players who often compete in top-level tournaments. Streamers like Nick Kolcheff, Dr. Disrespect, and Timothy Betar are all fantastic talents whose streams are both entertaining and educational. Make sure to take note of things like their weapon usage, positioning on the various maps, and what customization options they are using in their build.

Read Strategy Guides

CoD Cold War has a large selection of maps. And mastering all these maps can be difficult. No two maps are going to offer the same gameplay experience. Some are close-quarters. Others are far more spacious. Some are a mix of both. And you always need to adapt your strategy to meet the requirements of each map. One of the best ways to do this is to read online strategy guides. They will be able to give you an in-depth analysis of each map and tell you what tactics and weapons work best for it.

Get A Good Amount Of Sleep

This one might not seem like it’s actual advice. But any professional gamer will tell you just how important it is that you keep your body in a healthy state. And that includes getting a good amount of sleep.

When you don’t get enough sleep your reaction time decreases massively. And in a game like CoD, your reaction time needs to be sharp. You need to be alert and aware of your surroundings while in the match. If you’re tired chances are you are going to massively underperform.

Just Keep Playing

All the tips and tricks in the world can’t replace the skills you’ll learn from just playing the game and having fun. No one ever becomes a pro overnight. It takes time and dedication. And there will be a lot of times when you feel like giving up the game forever. Our advice is to stick it out and keep on trying. The more time you put into the game, the better you will get. And remember to enjoy yourself while you’re at it.
